For thousands of years, we have been steeping plant extracts in water to create herbal teas. Most of the time to enjoy their many health and wellness benefits and sometimes, just because they taste good. Well, our CBD tea recipes aren’t any different. By combining CBD and natural plant extracts, you can enjoy the best of both worlds!
So, how do you make homemade CBD tea?
1. CBD Afternoon Tea
There’s nothing quite like putting the feet up, sipping a classic cuppa, and taking a moment for yourself. It’s the perfect opportunity to take a little break, even when work is a bit on the crazy side. But why not add a little spice? Treat yourself to a little CBD Afternoon Tea!
What You’ll Need…
- 1 cup hot water
- 2” piece of lemon peel
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- 1 CBD-infused Canndid English Breakfast teabag
- Splash of oat milk, to taste
Method…
The reason why this is one of our favourite CBD tea recipes is that it’s so easy to make. When you opt for a pre-infused teabag, it really is a game-changer. It simply means that you don’t have to faff about measuring doses and worrying about the CBD oil rising to the top of your beverage.
- Grab your favourite mug and stick on the kettle. To prepare the lemon peel, simply use a vegetable peeler to remove a small piece of lemon peel. Try not to lean too hard on the lemon as we only want the outermost layer of the zest, not the white pith underneath – this has a rather bitter taste.
- Next, add the lemon peel along with the cinnamon stick and raw honey to your mug. Then pop in the teabag.
- Slowly pour hot water over the tea bag and let it steep for 3 – 5 minutes. The longer you leave it, the stronger the flavour.
- When the tea is brewed, remove the teabag but try not to squeeze it excessively, this can make the tea taste bitter.
- Using a spoon, give the tea a quick stir to make sure the honey is melted properly.
- Then, add a splash of milk according to your personal taste.
If you don’t usually put milk in your tea, you should consider it when making CBD tea recipes. That’s because CBD is fat-soluble, meaning it doesn’t dissolve in water.
However, it does bind well to fat molecules. Therefore, combining CBD oil and a fatty substance like milk makes it easier to absorb CBD. This increases bioavailability, meaning your body absorbs it faster and more efficiently – so you get more out of your cuppa.

2. Green CBD Matcha Latte
Despite what the name might suggest, this beverage isn’t technically a latte. It’s actually a form of tea, modelled on a Japanese green tea blend. This fragrant and invigorating drink is perfect to enjoy hot or cold, and its leafy flavour works super well with the natural flavour of CBD.
What You’ll Need…
- 1 cup plant-based milk of your choice, we prefer barista-style oat milk
- 1 tsp matcha green tea powder
- 3 tbsp warm water
- 2 tsp raw honey or sweetener of your choice
- CBD oil
Method…
- Firstly, you should add the raw honey, hot water, and matcha powder to your mug or a small bowl.
- Next, you can use a small whisk to combine the ingredients to form a smooth paste. There shouldn’t be any lumps so if your paste is on the lumpy side, keep whisking. If you’re struggling, add another tsp of water and this should help.
- When you have a smooth, dark green matcha paste it’s time to move onto the milk. If you have an espresso machine with a milk steamer, you can use this to gently heat the milk.
- Alternatively, you can add it to a small saucepan and heat it over medium heat. We just want to warm it up though. If the milk starts coming to a boil, remove it from the heat.
- Before adding the milk into the matcha mixture, add a couple of drops of your favourite CBD oil. Mixing it with the heated milk should help prevent oil droplets from rising to the top of your drink.
- Next, you can combine the milk and the matcha paste. You should add the milk to the bowl or mug very slowly, whilst constantly whisking. The key here is to go slowly, making sure there aren’t any lumps.
- You should be left with a brilliantly green tea that smells amazing. If you want to enjoy this CBD tea cold, simply serve over ice!

3. Coconut & Lime Iced Tea
Speaking of iced tea, we have a couple of CBD tea recipes that are perfect to sip on during the warmer months. Firstly, we’ll take a look at making one of our favourites – Coconut & Lime Iced CBD tea.
For this recipe, we have used the same Canndid English Breakfast Tea teabags as we used earlier – they’re super versatile and you can use them to make so many different drinks.
What You’ll Need…
- 2 CBD-infused English breakfast teabags
- 3 cups of coconut water, heated
- ½ limed, thinly sliced
- Raw honey, to taste
Method…
- For this recipe, you will need a large mason jar or a pitcher to mix everything together. Once you have found one, add in the black teabag and lime slices.
- Then, you should gently heat the coconut water in a small saucepan. You don’t need to bring it to a boil, it just needs to be hot enough to extract the CBD and tea goodness from the teabag.
- When the coconut water is ready, slowly pour it over the teabags and lime. Just like making a regular cup of tea, you should use a spoon to make sure that the teabag is fully saturated and submerged.
- Leave the CBD-infused teabags to brew for about 15 mins and then take them out. Again, try to avoid squeezing them too hard or they’ll make our iced tea too bitter.
- Cover your pitcher and pop it into the fridge for 3 or 4 hours before serving. This will make sure it’s lovely and cold and it will give the flavours a chance to get to work.
- Serve over ice with a little lime slice on the edge of the glass for decoration.

4. Blackberry & Mint Iced Tea
If you liked the sound of that last tea, we have another of our favourite iced CBD tea recipes for you – Blackberry and Mint Iced Tea. This tea is packed with autumn flavours, with a refreshingly minty twist. It’s perfect to sip on the patio as summer draws to a close.
What You’ll Need…
- 2 Canndid Peppermint Teabags
- ½ cup fresh blackberries
- 6 fresh mint leaves
- 3 cups of hot water
- Raw honey
Method…
For this recipe, we’ll be using a similar method as we described earlier – therefore, it’s super simple!
- Again, you should grab a large pitcher or mason jar and add in your fresh blackberries along with the honey, mint leaves, and teabags.
- When all of the ingredients are happily in the pitcher, slowly pour hot water over them. Make sure that the teabags are submerged and saturated in water.
- Pop 15 minutes on the timer, and leave the teabags to work their magic.
- When the alarm goes off, simply remove the teabags and cover the pitcher with a lid or reusable beeswax wraps to keep its precious cargo safe.
- Chill the CBD tea in the fridge for about 4 hours to make sure the flavours have time to develop.
- When it’s tea time, serve over ice and garnish with some fresh mint leaves and frozen blackberries.

5. Ginger and Orange Autumn Tea
As we move into the colder months, it might be a little chilly to sip on iced CBD tea recipes. However, we have something up our sleeves that is sure to warm you right up. Ginger and orange tea have been used for many years for their potential health benefits. Adding CBD to the mix really boosts these benefits, meaning it really packs a punch.
Ginger tea has been used for a long time for its calming effects. Many people believe it helps to calm an upset stomach by aiding digestion. Similarly, many others love ginger tea because it helps the immune system and provides anti-inflammatory effects. Orange tea can also help digestion and its high vitamin C content is vital in maintaining a healthy immune system. Definitely something we need as we move into the winter months!
CBD, is also known for its calming properties as many people use it to soothe the mind and body. And research can back it up. Studies show CBD works in tandem with our bodies to maintain balance and support a healthy immune response. Therefore, it’s more than ideal to pair with ginger and orange tea.
What You’ll Need…
- 1 medium-sized orange
- Canndid CBD tincture
- 1 ½ tbsp raw honey
- ½ ounce fresh ginger, peeled
- 1 ¼ water, boiled
Method…
- Whilst the kettle is boiling, cut your orange into large slices. Squeeze the juice from one or two slices into your teapot.
- Next, you should cut the rind off the slices and add only the flesh to the teapot. The rind gives a bitter taste to leaving it out makes the tea nice and sweet.
- Remove the skin from the ginger root and slice it as thinly as possible. When it’s ready, pop it into the teapot too.
- Next, add in the honey and hot water. As you’re stirring the tea, add in a couple of drops of your favourite CBD tincture. You can add as little or as much as you want to tailor it to your needs.
- Then, replace the lid on the teapot and leave it to steep for about 5 minutes.
- When it’s ready to go, place a small fine-mesh strainer over your cup and pour the tea through it. This prevents any pulp or tiny pieces of ginger from making their way into your cup.

7. CBD Chai Latte
Similar to the CBD Matcha Latte that we had earlier, this tea is not a latte. It’s a super creamy form of traditional Indian tea, known as chai tea.
This tea is super easy to make but it is packed with flavour and spice. It also produces a fragrance that will make your mouth water. This is one of our favourite CBD tea recipes to make on chilly afternoons as it warms the belly and the soul.
What You’ll Need…
- 2 peppercorns
- 1 clove
- 1 star anise
- 2 cardamom pods
- ½ cinnamon stick
- Small piece of ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 Canndid English Breakfast teabag
- ½ cup of water, boiled
- ½ cup coconut milk
- Brown sugar, to taste
- Pinch of ground cinnamon, to garnish
Method…
- Firstly, you should lightly toast the spices on a non-stick frying pan until fragrant. Then add them to your teapot.
- Next, you can add the teabags and hot water to the teapot, making sure the teabags are covered. Leave them to steep for about 10 minutes.
- Whilst the tea is brewing, you can move onto the milk. Add coconut milk and brown sugar to a metal jug and use a steamer to heat. Hold the steamer arm at an angle to make sure you’re bringing air into the milk, creating a thick creamy texture.
- Alternatively, you can heat the milk in a saucepan, on the stove. Then, use an electric frother to thicken the milk.
- Pour the tea into your mug of choice and pour in the milk. Feel free to create a little latte art and finish with a pinch of ground cinnamon on top.
